The Toowoomba Pistol Club currently has four individual ranges established, and a fifth currently under construction, for pistol and rifle shooting, although there are limitations set by the Queensland Police Weapons Branch as to calibres, muzzle energy and type. The general range of firearms fall between calibres of .177 (4.5mm) to .380 (9.65mm). Calibres up to .45 (11.44mm) can be used for practice purposes and a match known as “Single Action” or “Western Action”. The T.P.C. regularly conducts a variety of different shooting disciplines and promotes interclub competition throughout the year with open and invitation shoots. Within two and one half hours driving (or less) of Toowoomba members can compete at over ten individual pistol clubs, most of which conduct regular weekly shoots and Open and State or National titles on a regular basis. The Club has Cert. IV Qualified Trainers and Assessors that are available to both member and non member, to assist in obtaining your Category A, B or H Weapons Licence. All Firearm training is carried out at our Helidon Range. The T.P.C. currently has competition matches on Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning and Wednesday night. Members may use the ranges at other times subject to certain by-laws of the “Club”. The T.P.C. is happy to show prospective members over the club, discuss the many aspects of our activities and give them an opportunity to use a pistol on the range. You need to be over the age of 11 years, have no criminal history, be able to produce a form of photo I.D. and complete a Weapons Act “Form 33” to be eligible to handle a pistol on an approved pistol range. With a variety of 25m and 50m ranges, Torrens Valley Pistol Club is fortunate to offer facilities to interest a broad range of sporting shooters. At the TVP Club we have a team of SA Police (SAPOL) accredited firearms instructors who operate monthly Firearms Safety and Awareness Courses to help prospective members on their journey to completing their firearms licence. How does the process work? In order to obtain a firearms licence for club use in South Australia the following steps are involved. 1) A form must be submitted to SAPOL firearms to seek approval to undertake training. This form will differ if you are adding club use to an existing licence or if you are applying for a licence for the first time. 2) When SAPOL return an approval to undertake training, you contact a club instructor who will book you in for the Safety Awareness Course. 3) On successful completion of the course and payment of the appropriate fees, your instructor will endorse your training, and the club will endorse your membership. In all there are 67 affiliated clubs who in turn are registered with the Australian Clay Target Association. Members may participate in our sport at any ACTA club in Australia as well as many countries overseas. All registered clubs must pass a safety inspection from the Victoria Police and all clubs have qualified coaches ready to assist new shooters in learning to be safe, responsible and skilful. The sport of Clay Target Shooting can involve the whole family, with Mum, Dad and the Children (must be over the age of twelve) all participating. Why not try it and join in the fun. Clay Target Shooting offers many types of competition which gives shooters an opportunity to specialize in the discipline that best suits them. Disciplines include: Down the Line (DTL), Skeet, Tower, Ball Trap, Sporting Clays and three Olympic disciplines, ISSF Trap, ISSF Double Trap and ISSF Skeet. These are all shot at clubs throughout Victoria, although some may not have the facilities to cater for all disciplines. Competition events are normally run in graded sections (AA-A-B-C) which provides equitable competition for both the novice and the experienced shooter. Sections for Ladies, Juniors and Veterans are often added as further encouragement. Club, Zone and State Carnivals are held each year. Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club Gun Club Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club

For those wishing to try the sport of pistol shooting for the first time, look no further. The Wagga Wagga City Pistol Club is an established club with experienced members and excellent facilities. It was founded in 1966 and since then has grown to become one of the senior national clubs, playing host to both state and national competitions. The club offers members the option to compete in all five ISSF (Olympic style) matches, Service Pistol and Black Powder. (See Matches for more details). Matches of every type are programmed at least once per month and range space is available for members to shoot unscheduled events or practice components of their shooting to improve skill. New members are welcome to come along to the club (located here) for Saturday afternoon meets. These are held almost every Saturday at 1:30pm (check the Calendar for details). This is a great opportunity to see what the sport can offer you, to talk to experienced shooters and even to have a shot yourself under the supervision of one of our many experienced members. The club caters only for shotgun shooting and is situated at 195 Rosenthal Road about 5 kms south of Warwick on the New England Highway. (Look for a sign to the left). The club has four trap layouts using the latest technology in automatic traps and voice activated target release equipment and one fully covered trench layout. We hold competition shoots on the first Sunday of each month and our annual shoot is on the first Sunday in October. Our clubhouse has kitchen and bar facilities from which there is a good view of the grounds. You do not have to be a member to use our facilities, visitors are most welcome to our shoot days. Trap shooting is open to all, but shooters must comply with the State Firearms Act. The Wonthaggi Gun (Clay Target) Club is the home of 2002 DTL World Champion & Life Member, Wayne Parks. Wayne has been a member at Wonthaggi for over 30 years and is usually found in the tracks on a Thursday night, breaking clays or offering a helping hand to those new to the sport, both junior and senior alike. The club is open on most Thursday evenings (weather permitting) from 5:00pm for practice. If you have never shot clay targets before, this is the perfect time to come and try your hand under the guidance of one of our experienced members. No license or gun are required for these sessions as everything is provided by the club and its members. The Yarra Pistol Club is situated at 830 Wellington Road. Lysterfield in a delightful bush setting adjoining Lysterfield Lake Park. The Club grounds cover approximately 10 acres. The facilities include four outdoor shooting range sections, a large indoor air pistol range, a substantial clubhouse including a kitchen - bar and a large car park. Members are welcome to use the ranges for target shooting practice. The Yarra Pistol Club was formed originally in May 1959 to organise, encourage and control amongst members the sport of competitive target pistol shooting. In 1965 the Yarra Pistol Club was incorporated. The Yarra Pistol Club is affiliated with the Victorian Amateur Pistol Association (VAPA), Pistol Australia (PA) and the International Sports Shooting Federation (ISSF). These bodies in various ways govern our sport, produce rules for pistol matches and authorise our existence with statutory Government Departments. Competitive pistol shooting has a number of different grades of performance, starting with Master Grade down through A,B, C and D. All new competition shooters start as ungraded in their first competition and their score will determine what their grade is. The Yarra Pistol Clubs office hours are 12 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays only. The Yarra Pistol Club is a non-profit organisation, run by volunteers for the benefit of the membership, with a Committee elected to oversee the functioning of the Club.
