Mannum & District Pistol Club Gun Club Mannum & District Pistol Club

The club was formed because the style of shooting wanted by the people present (IHMSA and IPSC), was not available at existing clubs in the area. Land for the range was made available by one of the members. This was situated in a dry creek bed within a deep gully affording a natural safety barrier for stray bullets. Because of the roughness of the terrain a lot of work was needed to make the area usable. The Mannum Council assisted with heavy machinery. The Club has grown steadily and became incorporated in June 1990. As the membership grew so more styles of shooting were introduced and it now caters for a wide variety of shooters. Over the last few years membership has remained stable at around 65 members with some of these coming from as far away as Adelaide and Elizabeth. In July 1998 the Club purchased the land it was leasing, making it one of the very few clubs in the state to own it’s own land. By doing this the future of the Club is ensured for as long as the laws allow the sport to continue. As soon as the deal was completed, excavation of the side of the gully began, resulting in the range from the 100yd mark to the 200yd was widened significantly to facilitate a much better bench rest rifle range. In May 2008 a building development began in direct line of fire. Although it was approximately 2 kilometers away, Firearms branch restricted the type of shooting that could be conducted on the range until such time as suitable baffles were erected so as to prevent any projectiles from leaving the range. Theses were completed in June 2009 and after inspection by Firearms Branch full shooting rights were restored. Mannum is situated about 36k north of Murray Bridge and 90k east of Adelaide. The range is just off Long Gully Rd behind the Engine museum.....See ' Visit this website' link above............SECRETARY: Rick Pitman. Fax: 08/85321938. Email: madpasc@madpasc.org.au

Spencer Gulf Shooting Club Gun Club Spencer Gulf Shooting Club

Located just outside of sunny Port Augusta, on Yorkey's Crossing Road, the Spencer Gulf Centrefire Pistol Club was formed in 1976. The club was founded on two disciplines - IPSC and Metallic Silhouette. With IPSC in its infancy, and the enthusiasm of the members for the discipline growing all the time, the club decided to host a match on their then home range - 'Spear Creek' - that would test competitors to the limit. So, in 1977, they held the first Bushranger Shoot™ and, although they didn't know it at the time, a tradition was born. The premise of 'The Bushranger Shoot™' was simple - friendly rivals from all the states of Australia were invited to gather from dawn 'til dusk, over three days, to participate in an enjoyable weekend of competitive shooting using all three IPSC disciplines - pistol, rifle and shotgun. The popular, long-standing club offers many practical shooting disciplines for rifle, shotgun and handgun. The jewel in the crown would have to be the Bushranger Shoot ™, which is held each year in June. This shoot is the longest, continually running IPSC style 3-gun event in the world. The club holds events each month and continually strives to stimulate and challenge those who come to compete with imaginative, innovative, interesting and original courses of fire.....WEBSITE LINK ABOVE........Club Calender: 1st Saturday IPSC Handgun, IPSC Rifle, IHMSA 3.00 pm, 3rd Sunday IPSC Handgun, IPSC Shotgun, IHMSA 9.30 am, and every Tuesday IPSC Handgun, IHMSA.
